SData Showcases & Downloads
SData provides a very simple way to share data across the organisation using simple RSS or Atom readers. However it can also be used for a variety of other purposes. Let's take a look at some more examples of what SData can do.

Getting Data into Excel
Excel is used by many people to manipulate data and create reports. However you need to get the data from a Sage application into Excel in the first place. This is where SData comes in. SData makes it very easy to import data from any SData-enabled data source. So for example you can pull information in from your CRM system and combine it with data from your accounts system to produce reports that provide information from across the business.

Self-service Website
SData can be used to provide web self-service capabilities. Using SData in this way, a company can provide its customers with direct access to certain information held within the company's accounting and other systems via the Web. Customers can view details of products directly, together with up-to-the-minute prices and stock (inventory) availability, and also access other pertinent information such as details of their current sales quotations and outstanding sales orders.

Java-Script example
The Javascript file provided below shows how easy it is to connect to an existing feed and display its contents. Simply open a command line shell, enter: "cscript <followed by the path to the extracted SDataSample.js file>" and the contents drawn from the SData showcases server will be displayed in your console window.
